Performance and lightweight at its most extreme
POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO SIMILAR TO THAT OF A 1960’S FORMULA 1 CAR
Following the 2005 announcement of a purposeful looking silver and black Lotus code named ‘Circuit Car,’ the concept was finally made official at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show, with the unveiling of the Lotus 2-Eleven. The Lotus 2-Eleven was as minimalist as they come, pairing a supercharged 4-cylinder motor with a stripped-back version of the Lotus “Small Car Platform”.
TRACK DAY DOMINATION
The Lotus 2-Eleven took its name as a homage to the successful 1956 Lotus Eleven, a car that won the prestigious the Index of Performance at Le Mans.
LIGHTER THAN THE LIGHTEST
Drivers were able to fine-tune the aggression of the drive-feel with a variable launch and traction control system. With the twist of a dial, the driver could switch from precise and balanced maneuverability to all-out, unrestrained power.
DESIGN ADDS PERFORMANCE
Innovation came with the development of an entirely new material for the 2-Eleven body panels. Dubbed ‘core mat’, the material comprised a mat sandwiched between two fibreglass sheets and then bonded with a special resin. Core mat had a similar strength and weight profile to carbon fibre, while being more flexible and easier to manufacture.
