To celebrate the launch of Lotus Paris, and our 75th anniversary, we commissioned an in-store installation by digital artist of the moment, Ksawery Kirklewski. Inspired by the Lotus Eletre and created to pay homage to our proud heritage, the result is an LED techno-chromatic spectacular that is an immersive, expressive synthesis of the past and the future of Lotus.
Polish-born Kirklewski, or Ksawery Komputery as he is known, initially followed his love of ‘big pixels’ and computer science to university before a timely epiphany initiated a study switch. Having graduated in 2015 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland, he has since combined his passions for technology and art into one successful career—with distinctly retro influences.
“Today, my practice is built on fine art, coding, and graphic design.” Ksawery Kirklewski
Working with the likes of Nxt Museum Amsterdam and Khroma Berlin to code and create interactive installations, generative animations, and phygital sculptures, Ksawery would usually give commercial collaborations a wide berth. Lucky for us, Lotus holds some childhood nostalgia. A massive fan of 80s racing game
Lotus Turbo Challenge, he admits that its vivid colours and energetic soundtrack helped shape his obsession for aesthetics and experience. Both of which can be seen and felt in the final exhibition—a sign of an almost serendipitous partnership.
A paradise of Komputery’s signature pixels and Delorean-inspired lights, sparkles, thunder, and lightning bolts, the creation evokes ideas of time travel and progress. Like the Eletre could propel itself into the future. The light installation includes a 3-minute show and a unique interactive mode. 1200 meters of LED strips carry 36,000 pixels running at 100 frames per second. It also features a high-speed infrared camera, 4-speaker sound system, and custom software and hardware.
Visit a realm where time, space, and light converge. Experience art that shines brighter than the city of lights itself. The exhibition will be in-store and open to the public from the 28th to the 30th of September, 2023.
